- Video production by: Heidi McGuire, 321 Media Productions ____________________ Union Island & Petit St. VincentI find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving - we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it - but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor.” Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. After a spectacular adventure in Tobago Cays, the time had come to make a full provision run. We sailed down to Union Island to go through customs/immigration and check out the fresh markets. Arriving in Cliffton Harbor, we snagged a mooring ball and made our way to land. Our captain, Scotty, headed into Immigrations, as the rest of the crew went to enjoy the colorful open aired market. The market offers sailors and locals alike fresh fruit, hot sauce, vegetables, fruit smoothies, Caribbean handmade dolls, and some local jewelry. After provisioning, we popped into a local French café to grab some milk shakes and enjoyed fresh Rotis from a street vendor. On our way back to the Life Jacket, a fisherman had just returned from sea with a 90 lb. grouper. Craving some fresh fish, we quickly negotiated a price and had him filet the fish for dinner. Once back on board, the crew prepared to set sail for the small private island of Petit St. Vincent. The island, located on the southernmost tip of the Grenadines, provides its guest with the utmost privacy, luxury, and beauty. The boutique resort that calls the island home, features soft rolling lush hills, two miles of white sand beaches, two gourmet restaurants and hand-carved wood bar. Excited to clean up and relax in luxury, the crew showered up to head to shore and watch the Sport Illustrated modeling shoot taking place on the sands. Fresh crafted cocktails in hand, out eyes gazed out at the open seas as brilliant shades of crimson and amber filled the sky. - Words By: Alexandria Prain
