- Video production by: Heidi McGuire, 321 Media Productions ____________________ The Final Sail - Grenada “We wanderers, ever seeking the lonelier way, begin no day where we have ended another day; and no sunrise finds us where sunset left us. Even while the earth sleeps we travel. We are the seeds of the tenacious plant, and it is in our ripeness and our fullness of heart that we are given to the wind and are scattered.” . No matter the lengthen of our trip at sea, our hearts felt heavy as we prepared for the final two sails to Grenada. Affectionately called the “Spice Isle of the Caribbean,” the lush and mountainous island offers visitors a spectacular underwater sculpture garden in Dragon Bay, white and black sand beaches, a vibrant market, spice plantations, organic chocolate, rum distilleries, historic forts, and stunning waterfalls. Though sad to leave the Grenadines, we relished at the adventure in a new zone and culture. After a quick stop in Carriacou for Customs/Immigration, we set sail south over the underwater Volcano ‘Kick em Jenny’. Deep green jungles and rolling hills captivated us, as our imaginations began to create the legends of the pirates and heroes of Grenada. About a five hour sail south, the Life Jacket soon purred into the quiet Dragon Bay. Champagne popping the celebration of our final passage began, as we dove into the untouched indigo waters. Snorkel gear in tow, our crew made its way over to the underwater garden and explored the sensational underwater installation. The brilliant sunrise of the Caribbean gently kissed our faces the next morning. The time had officially arrived to return to port. Located just around the bay, the Icelantic Crew and the Life Jacket gently rolled into Port Louis Marina in St. George. Though sad to be leaving the sea, the Moorings Yacht Club is the perfect place to once again acquaint oneself with life on land. The historic town of St. George is absolutely charming, offering a true glimpse into island life, as well as a peek into rich history of the islands. Spices, jewelry, art, rum, and organic chocolate, the islands captivates all senses. A painless check out with the Moorings, we relaxed in the pool and dined in the Yacht Club’s restaurant. Before we knew it, the time arrived and we piled into the arranged taxi to the airport. Our perfect adventure had come to a close. - Words By: Alexandria Prain
